monday thoughts.

monday thoughts

So I thought I would start something new on my blog.

Reason #1 - so I can write more on here
Reason #2 - to be more positive
Reason #3 - to keep my mind clear while I'm planning this wedding

So each Monday I will post a "monday thoughts" post on something that I'm thinking of, deciding between, amazed by, basically whatever is on my mind that particular Monday.

Today's thought is on : technology

This piece of wonderfulness is something that continues to amaze me each and every day. Today I got to text my Dad in a blink of an eye who is half way across the world in India for work right now. To be able to send and receive texts messages that fast will always boggle my mind. It sure is cool though!

p. s. only 66 days left :)

a new obsession.

So the fiance and I have started a new obsession...well, he got me on it actually.
I have finally been introduced to Jack Bauer.

I know, I know...how have I not watched 24 in the last 9 years it's been aired? To be honest, I have no idea. I had so many other shows that I was following (I'm a bit of a t.v. junkie), and so I don't think I really had time to add another show to the list. But I have to say that I am so glad I'm NOT watching it on t.v. because I would go crazy!! Instead of waiting a whole week to watch the next one, Chris and I just have to select the next episode. Thank you Netflix.

I am excited about this new obsession and can't wait to watch more of it!

Jack Bauer...you rock.

snowed out...

Utah weather and I have a love hate relationship I've decided. Whenever something big is scheduled to happen, or occur it always storms or snows.

Today Chris and I were supposed to go take our engagement pictures up at Snowbird ski resort, but thanks to the weather we got snowed out :(
So we have to reschedule. No fun.

Oh well...just at work today...wasn't planning on being here so I've been blog stalking all day. Yes, I like to do that -- don't judge me.

Only 72 days until I marry the man I love!

for my man on his birthday

So I'm about three days late on this post, but I figure it doesn't really matter when I post it just as long as I do. Now that it's late I can tell about our night!

So my boy - Christopher James - turned 23 on Wednesday. He threw me the coolest birthday ever back in August, and so I had to give him a good one back. I came up with the sweetest idea ever for him (with the help of my Mom), but thanks to the winter weather was unable to do it.

My idea : We were going to go up to Snowbird and eat at the Mexican restaurant in The Cliff Lodge. Sweet, right? I was bummed when the Snowbird website read "roads restricted to 4WD cars and cars with chains." I was not one of those. So we ended up going to Red Iguana (which is still so good!) for a yummy dinner and then back to my grandparents house for present, pie and ice cream. It was a great night!

I've seen these done and I've liked them so I want to do one myself. So here's a list of 23 reasons why Christopher James McNulty is Christopher James McNulty ... and in no particular order :

1. He makes me laugh all the time
2. We study the gospel together and always have some topic we talk about
3. His love for football -- which has made me love football
4. His work ethic ... even though he works as a kindergarten aid, he still works hard
5. He has a way with kids ... especially my little cousins who I think may love him more than me
6. His fantasy football obsession - no lie, when it's that time of the year, he checks his profile all day
7. His love for my food, or maybe his "willingness" to eat my food when it's not that great
8. His love for my family as well as his own
9. His willingness to help out whether it be the dishes, or cooking, he's great!
10. His smile ... makes me weak in the knees
11. His volunteering at the MTC to help the cute little missionaries
12. His adventurous side -- he always gets me to do and try new things
13. His willingness to do things just to make me happy
14. How much he loves me and makes that known every day
15. His arms :)
16. His ability to "cheat the system", or make it so that we can do things (aka free day in Park City)
17. His hair ... I love his hair ... especially when it's not done
18. His smarts ... he knows his stuff
19. His drive to do well in anything and everything he is involved in
20. His Spanish speaking skills :)
21. His love for Harry Potter -- he might have a pair of HP glasses and a wand hidden somewhere?
22. How easy it is for us to talk about anything and everything
23. How truly amazing he is to me and to everyone around him

I love you Christopher James!!
Happy {late} birthday :)

down for the count.

being sick is really not fun, especially when your Mom flies in from Minnesota for only a few days to help with wedding stuff like buying a dress...yeah...like I said, not fun.

I could deal with a common cold, those aren't fun, but instead I got strep throat. Yeah that's really not fun. I've been sick for the last 4 days...throat is on fire and the head kills.

This was not what I pictured to have while my Mom was here.

Like I said...strep throat is not fun.

Getting my dress tomorrow :) Maybe that will help me feel better?

happy ending.

excuse the crazy face...but I'm excited!!

So let me explain why I posted a crazy face at the beginning of this post...I didn't make this known in the last post about my skirts because part of me didn't want to deal with the possibility that these skirts (pictured in the last post) might not be an option for my wedding...here's the story:

I was at work...naturally looking at wedding stuff when I found the perfect skirt for my bridesmaids to wear from Downeast. Oh, was I in love. So I called my sister...she loved them. Called my Mom...she loved them. Basically I was in heaven. As I went to order them though, my sister pointed out to me that the only sizes left were xx-small and xx-large. Boo. I was so sad!!

I thought to myself though that there had to be some way of me these skirts. Some way. So I emailed Downeast and told them that if there was anything they could do for me that it would make my wedding.

Well...there was!! I got a call from the awesome Dana today and she told me she was able to find ALL of my skirts. ALL!!! I am a very happy bride today :) So I am going to post the skirt again because I think it's so darn cute! But here's part of what my bridesmaids will officially be wearing on my wedding day:

Thank you Dana!! You are amazing.

bridesmaid skirts

I found the bridesmaid skirts!! I am so excited. I hope this will work and that everyone will like them. I've been searching for something for some time and finally was able to find this skirt at Downeast Outfitters. Yay!!

9o days to go!!

sometimes i hate getting back to real life.

So today is day two of being back to work and real life and I find myself not being ready for it. I don't think I was quite ready for my vacation to be over. Yes, watching movies and sitting around all day can only last for so long, but at the same time it's so nice!!

I'm trying to make the transition back into real life a bit easier by concentrating on wedding stuff. I must say it's helped quite a bit! I already have a dress appointment for Thursday and then on Saturday to the Bridal Fair!! Gotta say, I sure do love those. Chris is even suggesting he come along so that we can get some free stuff maybe? Hopefully he will have fun...they are crazy!! I'm excited to take him though. We should have some fun.

Needless to say, this year has been pretty good. Chris and I are going to make some resolutions for ourselves as well as us together. When I have some I'll post them :)
'til then!

a new year.

I can't believe it's a new year already...time is flying by SO fast! I was looking at my dear friend Maura's blog today and saw an idea that she did that I am going to do as well, so thanks Maura :)

Here is a review of my 2010 in pictures

january:

One of the hardest months I've ever gone through. I said goodbye to my best friend Jessica as she left to serve a mission in Jackson, Mississippi. I don't think I've ever cried that much...needless to say I knew she was going to be a great missionary.

I also moved back home in hopes to find a good job and save some money...that didn't happen. Instead I got to play with my family for 4 months. It was awesome.

february:

I found out I was hired to be a Building Counselor for the Especially for Youth program for the BYU sessions. Totally stoaked for this!! I was soon to be a Red team member and would have no idea what was about to hit me.

march:

Went up north with to a little city called Bruce with a group from the singles ward. Who knew a group of singles could have so much fun!? We made some yummy food and watched the first season of Glee.

april:

Enjoyed the new Twins stadium opening up and hit up as many games as possible with friends and family. Gotta love them Twins!

may:

Celebrated my Dad's 50th birthday. Gotta say, decorating the lawn with 30 some pink flamingos was so funny. Dad loved it and the neighbors did too.

june

I began the craziest adventure of my life - efy, and loved just about every minute of it.

(this is not our first date, but it's one of our first few)

Had my first date with Christopher James...who knew I was going to meet my future husband in the first week of working?

Saw my good friend Aly marry her best friend in the Salt Lake Temple. So glad I could make it.

Went on some crazy awesome dates with Chris. He's an awesome date planner.

july:

On to month 2 of working efy...still loving it! Getting to know my team and loving all of our experiences together.

august:

Ended the best adventure (so far) in my life with a team that I grew so close to.

Went to Disneyland with 60+ efy counselors, but spent most of the time with the boyfriend.

(two of my sisters look thrilled! haha)

Took Chris home to meet the family :)

september:

Went to one of my Florida girls wedding receptions! Elyse was so pretty and Lance was fun to meet. It was good to get everyone together again.

Moved into an awesome new place in Provo, and started a new job working at Independence High School as a tutor.

Went to see John Mayer in concert with the boyfriend.

october:

Took another trip to Disneyland and to stay with my aunt Lani.

Went and picked pumpkins with the boyfriend, carved them, and put them outside my doorstep.

november:

GOT ENGAGED!! My cute fiance sent me on the sweetest scavenger hunt ever. Love him for that.

Went to St. George for Thanksgiving with Chris's family. Waited outside of Target on Black Friday and got a sick 40 inch flat screen :)

december:

Went to see the Temple Square lights...one of my favorite holiday traditions. I'm now excited that I have someone new to do it with!

Went and spent Christmas with my family in Minnesota

and...

We both got our first New Years kisses...ever :)

I have to admit that the year 2010 was a pretty good year. There were lots of tears, laugher, and love! Can't wait for what 2011 is going to bring me and now the fiance!

Happy New Year

i've been a little MIA...oops!

I've been sitting here at work for the past 5 hours when it hit me...I haven't written a blog in what seems like AGES! This is going to be a long post, but I hope to cover all of mine and Chris's Christmas break adventures. There are not very many pictures...which I am totally kicking myself for. So dumb. But here are the few pictures I have as well as some stories to go along with them, so enjoy!!

Chris and I flew out to the bitter cold Minnesota on December 18th. We got delayed, which I was not to thrilled about seeing that both of us were so excited to get out there to see my family. But thanks to one heck of a tail wind, we were able to get to Minnesota right on time!

My Dad got us from the airport, all lumber jack looking and all. It was awesome. The "I work from home now" look suites him well :) (Love ya Dad). As soon as we got home my sisters and Mom raced to my side to see my ring (this is they are seeing the ring in real life), and we hugged and giggled in excitement. Haha cheesy I know, but we're girls and I'm the first to get married, so what can I say?

The next week consisted of craziness!! The finace was so good and helping out and finding things to do while I was doing laundry and other things to help my Mom out. We even stayed up until 3 am a night or two before Christmas Eve to wrap presents for my Mom. It was a lot of fun and I must say, the finace is a good present wrapper (note to self for the future!).

Christmas was amazing. I love this time of year at the Aase household. We never really have set plans or tons to do, but that's why I love it! We didn't have our traditional dinner that we usually do because Mom had to work (oh Target...), so we did my sister Maren's birthday dinner a little late. So yummy :) After that we opened some presents. Who knew getting things for your future home would be so fun!?! The best surprise that the fiance and I were able to give was to my Mom. She's a bit of a fanatic for these dark chocolate orange sticks and I had accidentally grabbed the milk chocolate ones. Thanks to a smart fiance and a wonderful soon to be mother-in-law, we were able to get her some orange sticks to open on Christmas Eve. This was her reaction when she did:

Christmas day was awesome too. Lots more presents for the future home and the fiance did great on his gifts to me too. Loved them all! The rest of the time was great. Busy, but really good. We watched movies, played TONS of games, went out to eat a few times, saw Tron and Harry Potter, went sledding, Chris and Dad went skiing (well...the best they could in Minnesota), went to some wedding receptions (made us SUPER excited), and just enjoyed our time to sleep in and have fun with my family. I loved having Chris home with me and I know my family did as well.

Our trip home was a little less exciting...let's just say we will NEVER travel on New Years Eve day ever again. Nope never. A post of New Years will soon follow :)

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone, but we loved every minute of it! Here is the Aase Christmas card for all to enjoy (this was my Dad's idea...).
